GAVIN JOHNSON

Gavin Johnson is a native of Waycross, Georgia, who has nearly 15 years of experience working in television news and public relations. He is an actor who has starred in numerous theatre productions and independent films. In 2006, he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications with a minor in Theatre from Augusta State University.

After college Gavin joined ABC news affiliate WCJB-TV20 in Gainesville, Florida, as a Reporter, Producer and fill-in Anchor. During his two years in Florida he gained a reputation for getting exclusive interviews and reporting on issues impacting the lives of viewers.

In 2008, Gavin became a Reporter and fill-in Anchor at NBC news affiliate WECT-TV in Wilmington, North Carolina. Throughout his six years there he won several journalism awards including TV News Reporter of the Year runner up.

After developing a solid foundation in TV news, he transitioned into public relations and joined the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro, North Carolina, as a Public Relations Specialist in 2014. He returned home to the Peach State in 2016 accepting a position as a Public Relations and Communications Specialist at Zoo Atlanta where he currently works.
