DARRETT AMYX- Vice President

Darrett Amyx has been a pageant volunteer for over 25 years and finds fulfillment in seeing young women rise above personal challenges, meet the goals they set for themselves, and make lasting impacts on their communities.  That is what has drawn him to the Miss Georgia Volunteer Organization.

Previously, Darrett served as a founding member of the Miss Capital City Scholarship Pageant Organization that quickly established itself among the premiere Miss America local preliminary pageants in Georgia.  During their 15 years as a local franchise and with the same core group of volunteers, eight of their titleholders were named Miss Georgia with two of those women being named first runner-up to Miss America.  And two of their teen titleholders were named Miss Georgia’s Outstanding Teen who went on to be named second and third runners-up at the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Pageant.  Prior to becoming active in pageantry in Georgia, Darrett worked with local pageants in South Carolina in preparing their contestants for state competitions.

Darrett is a firm believer in not changing a young woman, but helping her become more confident in who she is by honing her strengths and identifying, addressing, and tackling anything she may think is a weakness.  Winning is a mental game and no one has ever won at being something they are not.

While volunteering in the Miss America System, Darrett judged over 45 Miss America local preliminaries in nine states as well as eight MAO state pageants, including serving on the Miss Wisconsin Judges Panel that selected Miss America 2012 Laura Kaeppeler.  And he was honored to serve on the Judges Panel of the Miss National Sweetheart Pageant in 2019 which has long been considered the “runners-up pageant” for Miss America state pageant competitors.  Through these experiences, he has established a network of contacts from which to draw on the best judges from across the country to select Miss Georgia Volunteer representatives.

Darrett received his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Clemson in 1984 where he was a member of Kappa Tau Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi National Business Fraternity.  An avid supporter of the performing and visual arts community in North Georgia, Darrett is also a Certified Public Accountant and a member of both the Georgia Society of CPAs and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  He is employed as Director of Real Estate Accounting for a publicly traded REIT headquartered in Atlanta, with a portfolio of commercial properties in New York City, San Francisco, and Washington, DC.
